It sucks big time. No more search by keywords, location, state, or countries. It's clumsy. Yeah, it looks like an app developed in 2020. During the pandemic, given how sick it is.

Appreciated reading Your review, Sir, but have to say my reaction was opposite. Absolutely agree with You that the old version needed an update - long overdue for that - but most of the features i routinely use appear to be missing from the new version. Cannot search profiles by keyword nor particular kink or fetish interest...my travel plans feature has been removed...and i think as You described, the wall feature is difficult to fathom - why does it exist and what am i supposed to do with it? my response to the UI and the optics is actually that they feel somewhat clumsy and not up-to-date or modern. Glad that it has pleased You for sure, Sir, but it's a definite failing grade from me. Disappointed in Recon big time, and bummed about it.

While “keywords” searching is gone, can absolutely search by kink by changing the filter settings under “interests.” I wanted to attach a photo for you but that’s not possible in this reply.

Only widely defined kinks. If you conform, you are fine. If you don't, you are screwed. Not the best for a **kinky** app to require you to confirm.

You can absolutely search by location. You can touch the map physically in terms of where in the world you want to search or type in a location. Perhaps this type of searching is only for paid users? That part I’m not sure. But on my end you can search any location in the world to see who’s around then narrow anything down by age, kink (interest), role, body type, etc.

It's not the same thing. I am a paid user too. You can't search by country, continent, region, or county. You simply can't. Searching by keyword and by kink is not the same thing. You are not in control of the search. If I want to search for someone who likes, say, "socks," I can't. It's now a website for subs who want to be controlled in what they can do. It's not a website for Doms who want to control their own world.

Interesting. I never used the keyword function. So I am very unfamiliar with this idea. The location part, however, I just typed in “France” and then also typed in “Woodford County” while using the “explore” function. Both worked. I am ultimately very surprised at the reception of the app. But hey. Everyone has their own experience though. I hope things improve over time for folks.

i understand what John is saying. Previously a search could be entered by a whole geographic area at once (eg North America, or Europe, or Oceana) where as now the limit is an 800km radius that one would need to keep moving around all over the map in order to cover the same distance which is really inconvenient and not nearly as efficient. The keyword search, Sir, that existed before allowed exploration outside of provided kink menu literally allowed users to develop lists of profiles, again…within a certain region if desired…based on an isolated word in their profile. The example John used is a good one - socks. This feature was removed, making the new version less robust than its predecessor. Additionally, the downgrade in privacy also sits uneasily with me. Previously, i had a list of favourite profiles that i curated privately, to return to as i liked, when i liked, for whatever reason that might have been. Recon has converted this feature to ‘follows’ and made it completely public, meaning anyone i follow is available to all users…like X, and bluesky, and other socials. The criticism that Recon has aligned their new version with local hook-up sites and popularity-rewarding platforms such as X or IG where users pursue quantities of followers versus building a community within a community for some meritorious reason is a real. And its a negative in my view. Much of the online criticism is that Recon has fundamentally shifted away from the kink community aspect of the apps functionality that brought us all to the site in the first place, and i agree with that criticism. Agree or disagree with it, the sheer volume of online dislike (put mildly) is so substantial that Recon’s official silence on the matter shocks me quite frankly. There has been almost no response to the vitriol that they have sparked from their paying members, and any vendor who a) pisses off their revenue stream and b) then appears to ignore that revenue stream…seems doomed. Which would be a shame. i have so enjoyed being part of Recon and it has allowed me to meet som many men from around the world that i hate to see what has happened to it, self inflicted. Truly i have to agree with John in spirit - that the new app/platform just does not resemble anywhere near close enough what enthused me about Recon and so i like many others have cancelled my premium status and will revert to free unless they pay attention to what their customers want…but…(John if you read this) i have to disagree with one point made. i am a sub, and am just as disenfranchised as any Sir by this new ‘upgrade’…so i don’t think it serves subs as a whole community for some kind of control…respectfully.

Thanks,Sir...this is helpful. Addresses one of my beefs - so much appreciated. Seems the online response to the upgrade is waxing pretty negative overall, and Recon has advertised that more features are coming in the next weeks (curious though that they would not simply release a fully developed app - whatever) so hopefully they will respond to comments from the community. Can't keep everyone happy - but seems there are a lot of us left somewhat wanting. Thanks again, Sir.
